“ A somewhat urban grocer for the thrifty & modest shoppers in the Pontiac area. This place caters to a majority of African Americans, Hispanics, and working class Whites in the area. This means you can find tons of Mexican imported foods, unique & exotic meats, and tons of specials on grocery needs. My Mom occasionally makes the 20-minute trip from Sterling Heights to here to get specials such as a 10 lb. bag of chicken legs & thighs for $3.90! That's 39 cents/lb for a 10 lb bag of fresh/raw chicken pieces. Think of how cheap you can make 2 family dinners when the meat is that cheap. There are tons of other specials and whatnot, but all in an urban, supermercado sort of a style. Adventurous shoppers may find a few bizarre foods (e.g. chicken feet, pig head, pig feet, beef tripe, etc.) and imported goodies (mostly from Mexico) that are not regularly seen here. A lot of the items are brands we're familiar with, but in the packaging, sizes, and flavors they sell in Mexico. Though it's in Pontiac, it's in a safe area just a stones throw from Oakland Univ. and The Palace of Auburn Hills. Great Lakes Crossing is a short drive from here too. This place is easily accessed via I-75, M-59, Telegraph, and Woodward. Given the clientele and location where this market serves, don't expect to find tons of whole foods, organic, and premium grade items that you would at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. This place is on the other end of the spectrum, with Kroger's being the median. You can bring your Food Stamps or cash payroll checks here, too. Don't know how many Yelpers would be using those services though. ”
